'Business which is authentic, ethical and exciting.' That's Innerpreneuring.

It's never too early to start marketing…

Kinda like Clark K before he gets the tights and starts flying, this site is currently in development. (Web-speak for we haven't quite got the idea or the necessary resources together.)

So consider this an interim conversation opener… you're viewing a  hastily-cobbled-together-for-a-fast-buck  work-in-progress version prepared for prospective partners, associates, advertisers and anybody interested in business which is more-human-in-a-good-way.

Clearly some way short of 'I pushed the fire control and ahead of me rockets blazed through the sky', things are being tested, broken, fixed and generally mucked-around with.

November 2009 update: 'Things change.' We're currently taking a break, probably for the whole month. With 425 'report' items, and 333 'magazine' articles, you'll not be short of good stuff to read here.

December 2009 update: In 2010, we'll likely change the whole site—meantime, it remains un-updated. (Is that even a real word?)

Innerpreneur?

Innerpreneurs are in some ways similar to entrepreneurs, and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cooler.

'Too many businesses are dull, inauthentic and unethical—let's have ones which aren't…' they know that good businesses are built upon integrity, intelligence and energy.

And of course, you have to have fun doing what you're doing—in a relatively natural and satisfying way which doesn't require working crushing hours just to add zeros to a bank balance.

A broader bottom line? Yeah, maybe.

We're talking about a genuinely different business ethos in which 'the right thing is also the profitable thing'.

Innerpreneuring recognizes for-profit enterprise as a strong societal influence, and the need for a more responsible approach to business.

Whilst profits and financial health is essential, money isn't the whole story. Social and environmental considerations are increasingly vital elements of good enterprise.

Creating a better world, through business? Absolutely. And why the hell not?

Helping Innerpreneurs become more business-savvy.

If you're already an Innerpreneur, or are thinking about it, what's here'll help you become a better one.

Our focus is the principle & practice of being an Innerpreneur.

'Saving gay whales' is fine—but it's a tough-and-crowded world in which the bills still need to be paid on time. So, in addition to a consideration of the philosophy, we include a rigorous treatment of the business-end of things, for which we deliver appropriate advice & support.

An excellent resource for personal & professional development, it's a practical & intelligent solution to the very real problem faced by every Innerpreneur: 'Just how do I build a successful business?'

The mix.

Everything we publish is strongly-or-loosely pegged to the 'Innerpreneur creed' (ha! how's that for a cliché?) of…

An Innerpreneur is an entrepreneur who uses their business toward personal fulfillment and social change.

More simply: 'I do neatstuff I enjoy and which helps make the world a better place or at least a little-less ****ed-up.'

A swingin' hot-spot of who-and-what's happening.

Our aim is very simple: To be the go-to place for that stuff.

A focal point for what commerce can be, rather than what it's been, done well this might even catch a wave and become… oh gosh, whisper it, 'a movement'.

'Move over dahlin…' we'll challenge that which is out-moded and doesn't belong in a civilised society or any good business, and suggest alternatives which do.

A forward-looking thought-provoker, we'll openly pose the questions:

  • Is there really a place in business for hype, manipulation, exploitation and sharp practice?
  • Why can't it be be a yardstick of all that's true, honest, pure and of good repute?
  • Does it have to be so damn dull?

'No, it really doesn't have to be like that', we'll show how things can, should-be and are changing for the better.

Progress.

The central theme here is one of better (more human in a good way) enterprise.

  • Natural.
  • Less pretentious.
  • Harmonious, happier and altogether healthier.

Forget about heart & soul, this is about excellence in the truest sense. As Innerpreneurs, we're the commercial influence of cultural shift.

In a perhaps ill-suited-as-kin mix we'll feature an eclectic blend of content including people like Peters, Roddick, Hawken, Kalman, Patagonia, Ben & Jerry's, BodyShop, Newman's Own, Branson, Godin, Kawasaki, Cluetrain, and others who've been doing this stuff for years.

Hey, hun, loosen-up. Take that pole out of yer ass.

Honestly sweetie, entrepreneur is so passé.

  • Are you one of those 'sleep is for the week, respect only force, horse-in-my-shorts male-macho testosterone-overload' types strutting around like Captain Invincible with a must… make… more… money ethos'?
  • Do you think what's outlined here is pretentious idealistic nonsense, more-suited to a bus-load of hippies than real-world commerce?

Poor you. At this point you have two options: take a long hike, or stick around and learn something.

Why?

An unashamedly moral dimension isn't the point—or at least not the whole one.

Doing business differently is a smart move. With increasingly-savvy markets, there's huge commercial advantage.

Undertaken appropriately, 'different business' principle & practice enhance—not compromise—efficiency, effectiveness and profitability.

Bottom line: there are two distinct types of commercial enterprise… those which elicit a smile and those which don't. Which would you rather be?

Next…

Click around and get comfortable.

Now we're all clear on things, let's get on with it.
