She's gone.
Departure and correction.
Here's a short (well, it started that way but grew) 'housekeeping' entry which ties-off the loose ends raised in 'Ch-ch-ch-changes.'.
One of the joys (and I use that term very loosely) of our 'policy of (almost) total transparency' is getting to talk publicly about what some/many consider should be kept private. So…
In a personnel change, as of now Tara is no longer active here. After some edits, onsite changes will reflect that.
The departure is amicable, so no issues there. And, as becomes clear in the U2 reference toward the end of this piece, most decisions are reversible or can at least be followed by another and different decision to achieve that result.
What happened? Not enough. The long-story-short is that mutually-beneficial potential has thus-far not been achieved, and on this showing I've decided to not continue the relationship.
High-handed? Oh, absolutely. Although I'd prefer not to, and would rather be among the crew than leading the cast, I set the tone here, creating an energy and guiding the flow. And make-and-communicate unilateral decisions on a 'here's what'll happen naturally unless…' basis is a natural/essential element of this.
Consider the view of Drucker:
Wherever you find something getting done, you find a monomaniac with a mission.
You know that single-minded concentration on a goal or objective is absolutely necessary for achievement of any kind in a competitive society.
That's in accord with the mentioned-in-earlier-posts 'the impetus for this comes from me thing'. For avoidance of doubt, and stating rather than chest-beating, 'impetus' includes concept and strategy, design-tech-words website, and most of everything else here.
And so, when considering the ongoing lack-of, to do less than I've done would have risked taking things further off course, and that'd have been daft.
There was no formal agreement to part. The decision was mine, to resolve an unsatisfactory situation which required a decisive action, and based on no or inappropriate responses to earlier email.
Tara was unavailable by phone, and although not quite as severe as arterial bleed, the situation required swift resolution to avoid energy depletion through inactivity or uncertainty. In start-ups often all you have is directed-energy, which you use to develop a carry-you-forward rhythm, and it's vital to not let that drop or get sidetracked.
