Issue 2 : May 2009.

'Savvy-up. Norm's ok with us.'

Business acumen is within any  entrepreneur's  Innerpreneur's reach. Toward that, here's a bloody good start… another 40+ pieces to make you think and help you understand—and through so-doing be better-placed to develop a good business.

And just who-the-hell is 'Norm'?

People starting out in business tend to seek step-by-step formulas or specific rules for success, but in reality there are no magic bullets.

Rather, there's a mentality that helps street-smart entrepreneurs solve problems and pursue opportunities as they arise.

That's the view of veteran company-builder Norm Brodsky—he calls it 'the knack'. Other advice from him includes:

Forget about shortcuts. Run a business as if it's forever. In the long run, your shortcuts will prove to be detours on the road to achieving your goals.

You have no friends in business, only associates. You can laugh and cry with them, but neither you nor they should forget that it's a business relationship.

Culture drives a company. The boss's most important job is to define and enforce it.

The life plan has to come before the business plan. You need to figure out where you want to go before deciding how to get there.

So yeah… Norm's certainly ok with us.

As usual, we'll build the issue throughout the month. This page should automatically update, as will our RSS feed.
